Shine On Chillicothe Members

  • Lisa Wayland

I joined Shine on Chillicothe in 2021 during the second year of lighting of the park. I  served as secretary year one and chairperson the past two years. I have always wanted to see the park shine during November and December, so it was an easy decision to commit, and after 30 very busy years in education, I  was eager to give back to our community. I am forever  grateful for our amazing team and for our generous community…both are key to the success of our project of lighting our stunning Yoctangee Park!  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about the non-profit. shineonchillicothe9@gmail.com

A retired real estate agent, mother of 3 and a founding member of Shine On best describes me. Lighting the park has made my retirement years a real joy.  I hope our community continues to support our dream because without you there would be no lights.  Let this project be my legacy.

  • Judy Bennett

I’m Judy Bennett, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, retired Spanish teacher and guidance counselor. I have been a member of Shine On for the past 3 years, and it is  such a pleasure to work with this joyful, energetic group! I love visiting the park after the lights have been lit, watching the families, and listening to the sounds of joy from the children. What a gift all of our donors and volunteers give to our wonderful community!

  • Erica Oliver

I serve as Design Committee Chair, and I have loved holiday lighting since I was a child going on trips around the state to visit light displays with my family. It was an enthusiastic yes when me and my husband’s local electrical contracting company was asked to get involved in 2019.

  • Lesli Parker

When I retired after 35 years of  working in healthcare, I was excited to get involved in giving back to the Chillicothe and Ross County communities. I joined Shine On in 2023, and am currently the recording secretary and have taken on the Memorial Tree Walk Project. I am grateful for the friendships I have established with Shine On while working on a project for our community to enjoy.

  • Lisa Bennett

I am Lisa Bennett. I joined Shine On Chillicothe this year as the treasurer. I have taught 33 years in Chillicothe City Schools and was recently elected to City Council. I’ve enjoyed serving on community service groups over the years, this group is a perfect fit with all the joy brought into Chillicothe’s downtown!

  • Nancy Gomez

I joined Shine On in the fall of 2022 after volunteering to help hang lights. I felt such a sense of accomplishment and pride when I walked through the park that winter and decided I wanted to be a part of the incredible team that puts it together. After retiring from the counseling and youth ministry world I was ready to try something different but still make a difference in our community. I enjoy being a part of the committees that put on our annual fundraising dinner and tree walk. I love Chillicothe and hope to see the park SHINE for many years to come!

  • Susy McKell

I have been a member of Shine On Chillicothe since 2021. I served as treasurer for two years and continue to help with marketing and fundraising in 2023. I moved back to Chillicothe in 2020 after spending time in Dublin, Ohio working and raising my children. My favorite thing about Shine On is reconnecting with friends and making new friendships. I love giving back to our community and being part of something very positive and special.

My family and I have made attending the Tree lighting event in Yoctangee Park an annual tradition. I am a life-long resident of Chillicothe and thrilled to give back to the community through such a wonderful organization.
